It has been shown to inhibit the activities of various enzymes, such as aminopeptidase and alkaline phosphatase, and to have a protective effect on human serum. N-Acetylspermine trihydrochloride also has a protective effect on bowel disease induced by inflammatory agents. It has been shown to be an effective therapeutic agent for some types of bowel disease, including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. N-Acetylspermine-d3 trihydrochloride is absorbed from the gut into the bloodstream and then metabolized by liver enzymes before being excreted in urine.
