Información del producto
Cyclopropyl(naphthalen-1-yl)methanone is a photosensitizer that can cause skin cancer. It is an aromatic aldehyde and one of the three isomers of cyclopropanecarboxylic acid. Cyclopropyl(naphthalen-1-yl)methanone is used in imaging because it absorbs light to generate singlet oxygen, which affects tissues in the body. It has also been shown to be effective as a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy for cancerous tumors. Cyclopropyl(naphthalen-1-yl)methanone is synthesized from pyrrolidines, which are obtained from the reaction of chloroform with magnesium chloride and cyclopropane gas. The reaction occurs under reflux conditions and this compound can be purified by distillation or recrystallization.
