Descripción:Banoxantrone is a cytotoxic drug that is used to treat solid tumours. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of subcutaneous tumors in mice, and it can reduce the size of these tumors by 50% after six weeks. Banoxantrone binds to DNA at hydroxyl groups, which leads to the activation of hypoxic tumor cells and increased radiation sensitivity. This drug also increases the effectiveness of monoclonal antibodies that are site specific for certain types of cancer cells. A disulfide bond in this drug stabilizes its structure and promotes its anti-tumor activity.
