LTAS-IN-1 is a synthetic antibiotic that inhibits viral, bacterial, and fungal growth. It has been shown to be effective against viruses such as influenza virus, hepatitis B virus, and human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). LTAS-IN-1 also has an antibacterial effect against various strains of Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis. This drug binds to the ribosome in the host cell and blocks protein synthesis. The antiviral effects are believed to be due to its ability to inhibit DNA replication.
