3-Bromopyrrolidine (3BP) is a synthetic, enantioenriched azide that is used in the synthesis of other compounds. It is also used as a dopaminergic agent and has been found to be an effective catalyst for olefinic reactions. 3BP binds to nucleophiles such as piperidines with high affinity and is catalytic in its enantioselective form. The stereochemical outcome of the reaction can be controlled by altering the chiral center of the substrate. 3BP has been shown to be an effective catalyst for biomolecular reactions including peptide synthesis, affecting both the rate and yield of production.
