Descripción:The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a major obstacle to drug delivery into the central nervous system (CNS), in particular for macromolecules such as peptides and proteins. However, certain macromolecules can reach the CNS via a receptor-mediated transcytosis (RMT) pathway, and low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) is one of the promising receptors for RMT. Recent studies have shown that biotinylated L57 binds to LRP1 (CL4)-Fc more efficiently than Angiopep-7 (a different LRP1 ligand), which might explain the improved BBB permeability of L57.
