• Descripción: The RGD peptide is a ligand for cell-surface integrin receptors, which are used by most cells to attach to and sense the extracellular environment and to establish a cytoskeleton. RGD peptide can be attached to biologically important molecules, such as nanoparticles, to enable active targeting of drugs or gene delivery. Model substrates presenting immobilised RGD peptide can be used to promote the adhesion and spreading of cells which have been engineered to expresses integrin receptors such as the platelet cell-surface integrin receptor, alphaIIbβ3. Cells growing in these conditions appear to have well developed cytoskeletons suggesting that binding to the integrin receptor mediates biologically relevant adhesion and RGD substrates are able to support cell survival. Peptide is labelled with an N-terminal 5-carboxyfluorescein (5-FAM), a widely used green fluorescent tag.
