Descripción:BFF 122 is a kynurenine aminotransferase inhibitor that has been shown to be effective in rat brain models of Parkinson's disease. It is an irreversible inhibitor of the enzyme, leading to the accumulation of the metabolite kynurenine. BFF 122 has also shown inhibitory activity against recombinant human kynurenine 3-monooxygenase and has been shown to enhance the effect of L-kynurenine, a neurotransmitter that can decrease neuronal excitability. BFF 122 has also been shown to have neuroprotective effects in cellular studies by inhibiting glutamate toxicity. BFF 122 may be used for drug development for treatment of neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease, depression, or anxiety.
