NCT-501 is an analog of the natural product pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) that has been shown to have anticancer properties. In laboratory studies, NCT-501 was found to inhibit cellular proliferation in vitro and in vivo by specifically targeting cancer cells with high levels of β-catenin signaling. NCT-501 also showed metabolic effects in cultured cells, such as reducing glucose levels and increasing insulin sensitivity. NCT-501 is a reactive molecule that can be activated by light or oxygen, which may contribute to its anticancer effects.
