JNJ-63533054 is a selective non-peptidic, opioid receptor antagonist that blocks the binding of opioids to their receptors. This drug has been shown to have no effect on endogenous opioid production or metabolism and does not activate opioid receptors in recombinant cells. JNJ-63533054 has also been shown to block the binding of opioids to the cho-k1 cell receptor, an important signaling pathway for pain relief. The drug has a low potential for abuse, but should be used with caution in patients with mental disorders due to its interaction with the opioid receptor.
