Descripción

Acetyl-L-carnitine is a naturally occurring compound that is formed by the acetylation of l-carnitine. Acetyl-l-carnitine has been shown to have antioxidant properties and may be useful for treating oxidative injury. This drug has been shown to increase the activities of enzymes, such as acetylcarnitine, in the mitochondria and may help with energy metabolism. Acetyl-L-carnitine also has antiplatelet aggregation effects and can reduce blood clot formation. Acetyl-L-carnitine binds to DNA response elements to regulate gene expression, which may be beneficial for certain diseases.
