1-Azido-4-fluorobenzene solution is a reactive chemical that can be used as a reactant in organic synthesis. It has antiviral potency with an IC50 of 1.3 μM against the hepatitis B virus and is also active against other viruses, including influenza A/H5N1, herpes simplex virus type 2, and vesicular stomatitis virus. The antiviral activity of 1-azido-4-fluorobenzene solution is due to its ability to inhibit viral DNA polymerase. This compound has been shown to have a low toxicity in mice and rats and has pharmacokinetic properties comparable to those of other nucleoside analogues.
