2,4-Dihydroxybenzene-1,3-dicarbaldehyde is a molecule with two carbonyl groups. The crystal x-ray diffraction of this molecule shows that it has a formyl group and chromene ring. It also has two formyl groups on the benzoxazine ring that are not part of the chromene ring. This molecule can be found in the benzene family and is thermochromic. It is also photochromic and changes from yellow to blue when exposed to light. 2,4-Dihydroxybenzene-1,3-dicarbaldehyde forms perchlorate as an oxidizing agent when mixed with sodium perchlorate.
