• Descripción: Mesuaxanthone A is a natural product that is found in the endophytic fungus Mesua ovata. It has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on muscle cell proliferation and may be useful in treating various cancers. Mesuaxanthone A inhibits the growth of zoospores by binding to fatty acid synthase, which prevents it from catalyzing the production of polyunsaturated fatty acids. This inhibition causes a decrease in the amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids available for membrane lipid synthesis and leads to cell death. The reaction mechanism has been studied using chemical structures and nmr spectra. The structure of mesuaxanthone A was elucidated using a chromatographic method with column-switching conditions.
