2-Chloroethyl Methanesulfonate is an antibacterial agent that has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of bacterial dehydrogenase. It can be used to introduce a variety of substances into cells, including genetic material. 2-Chloroethyl Methanesulfonate can also be used as a reagent in peptidomimetic synthesis, which is the process of synthesizing organic molecules with the same or similar chemical and physical properties as amino acids. In addition, 2-chloroethyl methanesulfonate can be used for the treatment of gonia and spontaneous mutations in bacteria. The frequency of mutation is reduced by up to 50%. 2-Chloroethyl Methanesulfonate has been found to be an efficient method for inducing mutations in c1-6 alkyl guanine.
