Descripción:
5-Bromotryptamine is an indole alkaloid that is structurally related to the neurotransmitter serotonin. It can be synthesized by coupling of aryl boronic acids with indole-3-acetic acid. 5-Bromotryptamine was first isolated from plant cell cultures, but has also been reported in human urine. The biosynthesis of 5-bromotryptamine is believed to involve the conversion of tryptophan into 5-hydroxytryptophan and then 5-hydroxylation followed by decarboxylation. This reaction mechanism has been verified by chemical biology studies on recombinant bacterial enzymes.
