Información del producto
- Benzoic acid, 3-formyl-2-hydroxy-, methyl ester
- Methyl 3-formyl-2-hydroxybenzoate
Methyl 3-formyl-2-hydroxybenzoate is an isomeric organic compound that has the same molecular formula as methyl 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate. It has a wittig reaction with phosphonium ylides to form a pyran ring. Methyl 3-formyl-2-hydroxybenzoate is stable at high temperatures and also has high yield. This compound can be used as a reagent in the synthesis of coumarins and spiropyrans. The substituent effects on the pyran rings have been studied extensively, and it was found that they are reversibly affected by the addition of electron withdrawing groups such as carbonyls or nitro groups.
