2,6-Di-tert-butylnaphthalene is a chemical species that belongs to the group of naphthalenes. It has been shown to be an alkylation agent and can react with other chemical species such as aluminium or lapachol. 2,6-Di-tert-butylnaphthalene has been found to be a bioactive molecule with odorant binding and luminescence properties. It also has fluorescence properties and synergistic effects with silicon. The reaction rate is thermodynamic in nature and the optical properties are related to its molecular structure.
