The compound also has a fruity odor. This product can be detected by its high concentration of volatile compounds such as malate, furfural, and ethyl esters. 1-o-Ethyl 4-o-(3-methylbutyl) butanedioate has been shown to have an amino acid composition profile similar to that of amino acids found in natural butterfat.
