Descripción:(±)−Penbutolol hydrochloride is a monoxide-releasing drug that has been shown to regulate cardiac hypertrophy. It is a vasodepressor, with a vasodilator effect that is greater than its vasoconstrictor effect. (±)−Penbutolol hydrochloride can be used in the treatment of high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. The compound has also been shown to reduce the incidence of arrhythmias, although it does not appear to have any antiarrhythmic effects. (±)−Penbutolol hydrochloride can be administered orally or intravenously and is available as a crystalline solid or as an aqueous solution for injection.
