It has been shown to modulate the biochemical reactions of cells, and is used in medicines as an antioxidant. 1,3-Benzoxazole-2,4-diol is also able to activate the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2/heme oxygenase 1 (Nrf2/HO-1) signaling pathway.
