2-((6,7-Dichloro-2-cyclopentyl-2-methyl-1-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-5-yl)oxy)acetic acid (DCCA) is a prototype of a new class of antiarrhythmic drugs. It is an inhibitor of voltage dependent calcium channel that blocks the influx of calcium ions into cardiac muscle cells and leads to cardiac arrest. DCCA has been shown to improve the function of cardiomyocytes in vitro and in vivo models. DCCA also inhibits mitochondrial membrane potential, which is important for the production of reactive oxygen species. DCCA also inhibits iaa94 and cytosolic Ca2+, leading to decreased intracellular Ca2+ concentration and increased apical chloride concentration. This leads to increased whole cell currents and enhances the activity of pluripotent cells such as human embryonic stem cells.
