Cibenzoline is a drug that is used to diagnose and treat atrial fibrillation. It has been shown to have hypoglycemic effects in experimental models. Cibenzoline binds to the alpha-2 receptor, which causes an increase in the release of catecholamines and subsequent decrease in blood glucose levels. This drug also has antiarrhythmic activity and is used for the treatment of tachycardia or ventricular arrhythmias. Cibenzoline can be given by intravenous injection or by oral administration, depending on the severity of the symptoms.
