It has been developed for clinical use in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. 2-Amino-1-(3-chlorophenyl)ethan-1-ol has been shown to reduce borohydride and peracid, which are compounds that are used in organic synthesis. The stereoisomers of this compound have also been characterized by X-ray crystallography. This iodide has been found to stimulate the growth of cells in vitro, as well as increase fatty acid production, thus making it a potential candidate for the treatment of obesity.
