It is a mixture of 2-ethylhexanoic acid (2EHA) and 2-methylpentanoic acid (2MP). The chain length of the molecule ranges from C10 to C22 with a majority of the chains being in the range of C14 to C18. The alkyl group has two carbon atoms. This fatty acid can be found in natural sources such as animals and plants or it can be produced synthetically.
