• Descripción: PTI-428 is a drug candidate that has been repurposed from its original use as a bronchodilator to treat cystic fibrosis (CF). It binds to the CFTR protein and stabilizes it in its open conformation, which allows for increased chloride transport. This leads to improved secretion of mucus and fluid from the lungs. PTI-428 has also been shown to be effective in treating the symptoms of cystic fibrosis by improving lung function, increasing weight gain, and reducing pulmonary exacerbations. In clinical trials, PTI-428 has been shown to improve lung function in people with CF who have the F508del mutation.
