• Descripción: Elmycin B is a secondary metabolite that is biosynthetically derived from oxygenated indonesian strains of the fungus Streptomyces. Elmycin B has been shown to have antibiotic activity against fungi, bacteria and other gram-positive organisms. Structural elucidation was achieved through x-ray crystallography. It has been shown to inhibit growth in a number of Gram-positive bacteria, including Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus. Elmycin B has also been shown to be active against Gram-negative bacteria such as Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli.
