This drug is orally active and is selective for animal models over other animals, such as rats and mice. 7-Fluorochromone-2-carboxylic acid binds with high affinity to the amine group of the chiral center of the class A GABAA receptor and exhibits potency by inhibiting amino acid uptake into cells in culture.
