NCGC00244536 is a benzamide that inhibits the activity of histone lysine methyltransferases, which are enzymes that regulate the transcription of genes. It has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer growth in vivo and in vitro by decreasing the expression of genes involved in tumor cell proliferation. NCGC00244536 also induces apoptosis and decreases tumor growth by inhibiting the transcriptional activation of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) gene. This drug also inhibits cancer cell growth by inhibiting the activity of cyclin-dependent kinases, which are important for regulating cell division.
