N,N-Dimethylthiophene-3-sulfonamide is a drug that is designed to activate a synthetase enzyme. The molecule is an amide of thiophene and sulfonic acid, which has been optimized for activity against Staphylococcus aureus. It was shown to be active in vitro against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and M. avium complex strains. N,N-Dimethylthiophene-3-sulfonamide has been shown to bind to the active site of the enzyme with high efficiency and specificity. This drug has also been screened for pharmacophore efficiency in order to identify its target for binding.
