8-Chloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)imidazo[1,2-A]pyridine is an insecticide and nematocide that has been shown to be effective against parasitic nematodes. It also has a strong inhibitory effect on the growth of parasitic nematodes in the environment. 8-Chloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)imidazo[1,2-A]pyridine is chemically related to sulfonamides. It is metabolized by n-oxidation, which leads to the formation of reactive intermediates that bind covalently to DNA and lead to cell death. The mechanism of inhibition of parasitic nematodes by 8-chloro-6-(trifluoromethyl)imidazo[1,2-A]pyridine is similar to that of sulfonamides.
