Descripción:3-Ethynylbenzoic acid ethyl ester (3EBEE) is an alkylating agent that is used to introduce a substituent onto a pyridine ring. It can be used as a solvent and has pyridinium salt properties. 3EBEE reacts with carbonyls to form substituted pyridines, which are often used as buffers. It is also soluble in organic solvents such as acetone and chloroform. The reaction of 3EBEE with an alkyne forms an amide, which can be used for the synthesis of isoquinolines. 3EBEE is soluble in water at high concentrations, but the water-soluble form can be made by reacting it with a buffer.
