N-Methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinolin-8-amine is a compound that has been found to modulate the human chemokine receptor. This receptor is present on the surface of cells and is activated by chemokines. N-Methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinolin-8-amine may be used to treat immunodeficiency disorders and cancer. It also has been found to inhibit the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) in vitro. The antiviral activity of N-Methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinolin-8-amine may be due to its ability to prevent viral proteins from binding to the chemokine receptor or other cellular proteins.
