Descripción:LGD-2226 is a designer drug that belongs to the class of selective androgen receptor modulators. It binds to the androgen receptor, which allows it to inhibit cell growth by blocking transcription. LGD-2226 has been shown to be effective in treating metabolic disorders such as obesity and type II diabetes. The drug also has potential for use in the treatment of cancer, possessing low toxicity as well as high efficacy for cancer cells. LGD-2226 induces an apoptotic pathway in human adrenocortical carcinoma cells by inhibiting protein synthesis through inhibition of cyclin D1 expression. This drug has been shown to have a tumour suppressor gene activity, with the ability to induce apoptosis in deficient mice with lung cancer.
