Azido-dPEG®12-NHS ester is a peptide inhibitor that binds to the extracellular domain of the L-type calcium channel. It has been shown to inhibit the calcium influx in rat hippocampal neurons and human erythrocytes. Azido-dPEG®12-NHS ester has also been used as a research tool for studying protein interactions and activator ligand receptor interactions. It has shown to bind to the extracellular domain of the L-type calcium channel and inhibits calcium influx in rat hippocampal neurons, which may be due to its ability to inhibit voltage gated sodium channels.
