It has been shown to have biological effects on skin cancer cells and have potential for use as a drug in the treatment of skin cancer. Propargyl amine has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of rat striatal dopamine uptake and amines, which may be due to its hydroxyl group. This propargylamine binds to the surface of the skin cancer cells, causing them to die. The asymmetric synthesis of propargyl amine has been studied using molecular modeling techniques.
