The S-acetyl group is used as the acetylating agent in the preparation of peptides, proteins and other biomolecules. It is used in pharmacology as an inhibitor of protein interactions or as a competitive inhibitor of receptor binding. S-Acetyl-dPEG®4-OH also has applications in cell biology due to its ability to inhibit antibody production.
