O-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyl)-N-tosylhydroxylamine is a tertiary amine. It is used as a reagent for the preparation of various alcohols and aldoximes. This compound is also used for the selective cleavage of C-O bonds in phthalic acid derivatives. O-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyl)-N-tosylhydroxylamine has been shown to be an efficient method for the preparation of alcohols and aldoximes with chlorides, phosphines, and halides, using solvents such as n-hexane and dichloromethane.
