Descripción:PHA-543613 is a cholinergic nicotinic agonist that has been shown to stimulate the release of acetylcholine and dopamine. It also has activity on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, with effects including locomotor activity and growth factor-β1 release. PHA-543613 has shown efficacy in animal models for chronic cough and is being evaluated in human clinical trials for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drug has been shown to have an adverse cardiac effect, which may be due to its ability to activate α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. PHA-543613's mechanism of action may also involve its potential anti-inflammatory properties, since it appears to inhibit microglial activation following ischemia–reperfusion injury.
