Descripción:1-Acetyl-3-hydroxy-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (AHCEE) is an antidiabetic drug that belongs to the class of hypoglycemic agents. It has potent activity against experimental diabetes in animals. The hypoglycemic effect of AHCEE has been related to its ability to inhibit gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis in the liver. AHCEE also reduces blood glucose levels by stimulating insulin release from pancreatic β cells. This drug is excreted unchanged in urine, suggesting that it does not undergo extensive metabolism.
