Descripción:Clothixamide is a fatty alcohol that binds to the dopamine D2 receptor. It is used in the treatment of psychotic disorders and drug-resistant cases of schizophrenia. Clothixamide has been shown to be effective in patients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, including those who are resistant to other antipsychotic drugs. The binding of clothixamide to the dopamine D2 receptor results in an increase in the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and decreases in dopamine levels. This causes a decrease in psychological symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, and agitation.
