2-Phenoxytetrahydropyran is a cyclohexane ring with two vinyl ether groups. 2-Phenoxytetrahydropyran is an organic compound that has been used extensively in the pharmaceutical industry as a solvent and reagent. It is a colorless liquid that has viscosity of 0.923 cps at 25°C. 2-Phenoxytetrahydropyran exhibits some conformational flexibility, which can be seen in its nmr spectra and reactivity with acetaldehyde. The phenoxy group on 2-phenoxytetrahydropyran reacts readily with electrophiles such as OH, NH2, and SH to form enolates or hemiacetals.
