This compound undergoes oxidation when it is heated with catalytic amounts of lead nitrate or manganese dioxide. 3-Benzyl-4-methylthiazolium chloride can also be prepared by a preparative method that involves the use of solvents such as acetonitrile, acetone, or chloroform.
