Diphenoxymethane is a piperonyl butoxide derivative that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity. It also has the ability to inhibit the activity of proteases and inorganic acids. Coumarin derivatives are found in Diphenoxymethane, which may be responsible for its cytotoxic effect on cancer cells. The molecule is a growth factor inhibitor, an irreversible inhibitor and a solid catalyst. Its kinetic energy is due to hydrogen bonding with fatty acids. Diphenoxymethane inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells by inhibiting the synthesis of protein kinase C and other growth factors that are important for cell division.
