1-Butanamine, N,N-diethyl (1-BD) is a polycarboxylic acid that has been shown to be an effective amine immobilizer for the synthesis of carbamic acid and urea. 1-BD is also used as a stabilizer in electrochemical studies. The reaction products are particles with hydroxyl groups. Functional group analysis of 1-BD shows that it has an amination reaction with hydroxy groups, which leads to the formation of functional groups on the particle surface. This product can be used as a proton donor and can be reversibly reduced by electricity.
