3-Hydroxy-[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-carboxylic acid is an organic molecule that can be synthesized by the reaction of 3-hydroxybenzoic acid with o-phenylenediamine and ethyl chloroformate. It can be used as a photocatalyst for the production of hydrogen peroxide. This compound has been shown to have a distal effect on esterification reactions and is selective for hydroxylation at the ortho position on the phenyl group.
