3-Ethyl-1H-indazole (EI) is a triazine that has been used to treat bladder cancer and biliary tract cancer. It binds to the adrenergic receptor, which leads to an increase in the concentration of cAMP by binding to the alpha-adrenergic receptor. This causes hyperactivity and depression in rats. The compound also inhibits the formation of beta-amyloid peptides and decreases the production of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). 3-Ethyl-1H-indazole can also be used as a solvent or reactant in organic synthesis.
