Ethyl phenylcyanoacetate is a palladium complex that has been used for the development of new anti-HIV drugs. The complexes are effective in the alkylation of quinoline derivatives, which are important structural components in HIV and other viruses. This drug is able to inhibit the virus from infecting human cells by binding to the CCR5 receptor on its surface and preventing it from being activated. Ethyl phenylcyanoacetate also stabilizes chemokines and inhibits their degradation.
