5-Chlorobenzo[c]isoxazole is an electrophilic compound that has substitutions in the ring structure. It is a nitrated benzene derivative that reacts with substances such as acetylenedicarboxylate or dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate to form substituted cyclohexadienes. 5-Chlorobenzo[c]isoxazole has been found to react with nitric acid (HNO3) to form dinitrobenzene and benzonitrile, which are benzenoid compounds. This compound is also a member of the carbocyclic family, having a six-membered ring with two substituents on either side of the ring. The substituents are methyl groups that have been substituted with chlorine atoms.
