The gaseous form of this chemical has been shown to be reprocessed with hydrogen peroxide and sulfuric acid, which yields a residue that can be used for sulphonation. 1-(Piperidin-1-yl)octadecan-1-one also has the ability to react with fatty acids, yielding methylene and fatty acid amides.
